Following in the footsteps of the record-breaking Marvel Studios’ release, “Marvel’s The Avengers,” production on the highly anticipated release, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” has commenced in Los Angeles, Calif., with production also including locations in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington D.C.
Directing the film is the team of Anthony and Joe Russo (“Welcome to Collinwood”) from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) & Stephen McFeely (“Captain America: The First Avenger”).
Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” returns Chris Evans (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”) as the iconic Super Hero character Steve Rogers/Captain America, along with Scarlett Johansson (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Iron Man 2”) as Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Iron Man 2”) as Nick Fury. In addition, film icon Robert Redford has joined the all-star cast as Agent Alexander Pierce, a senior leader within the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release in the U.S. on April 4, 2014.

Whether it’s creating the costume from scratch, altering the appearance of an existing one, or just getting into character, these performers spend a lot of time and effort on their craft. As much as we all enjoy seeing our favorite fictional characters represented in real life, let’s not forget the behind-the-scenes work that goes into that portrayal.

Today the world lost another great. Comics legend Carmine Infantino, born in Brooklyn, New York on May 24,1925, has passed away at age 87 after a long illness.
Infantino is most widely known as the artist who created the iconic red & yellow Silver Age Flash costume and ushered in the Silver Age of comics with Showcase #4 in 1956. He also co-created some of The Flash’s most popular rogues – Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, Gorilla Grodd and Mirror Master. He also helped create a number of other DC characters including Barbara Gordon, the original Black Canary, and Deadman.
He later became DC Comics’ editorial director, and under his tenure DC created some of the best comic books on the stands. He hired Dick Giordano made Mike Sekowsky, Joe Orlando, and Joe Kubert editors; also Denny O’Neil & Neal Adams both joined DC’s ranks during that time. Infantino also hired Jack Kirby to work for DC after Kirby felt disenfranchised with Marvel at the time.
