Superheroes – Victoria’s Secret Style!

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2011

This year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show featured Superheroes as one of their themes. Scantily clad women in super heroine inspired costumes strutted down the runway while being ogled by sung to by Kanye West and the guy from Maroon 5. They all wore much more fabric than Starfire does, though.

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was taped and will air on CBS on Tuesday, November 29th, 2011 (10-11PM EST) for those of you who’d like to see more “superheroes” in action.

Until then, here are some pictures from the event to tide you over.

Frank Miller Derides “Occupy” Movement as “thieves and rapists”

FrankMillerSanDiego_crop

Comic book artist, writer, and movie director Frank Miller has had enough of the “Occupy” movement and has decided to tell the world exactly how he feels.

Last week on his personal blog, Miller went on what could be called a hastily assembled, incoherent, rambling, and vitriol filled rant railing against the entire OWS movement and the people involved. It really boils down to a name calling diatribe; Miller’s “Hey you kids! GET OFF MY LAWN!”

Long Beach Comic Con 2011 (LBCC ’11) Cosplay

GD-11

The long stretch of large Comic Cons runs mainly through the late spring and summer, but there’s never a shortage of smaller Conventions throughout  the year. Any convention wouldn’t be worth its salt without a large contingent of cosplayers, and the Long Beach Comic Con 2011 had its fair share. LBCC ‘11 also had the added bonus of being held on Halloween weekend.

Here is a large collection of cosplay photos from LBCC ‘11.

Enjoy!

All Marvel Ultimates Titles Will Include A Digital Download Code Starting in January 2012

Marvel’s Ultimate Comics offers FREE digital copies in 2012!

UltimateComicsSpiderMan_6_Cover

UltimateComicsSpiderMan_6_CoverStarting in January 2012, Marvel Comics will include a free redeemable digital download code in all their Ultimate Comics titles. Marvel just recently started their free digital download program with the release of Avenging Spider-Man #1, which was also polybagged to protect the codes, which are printed on the inside back cover, from being stolen. The Ultimate Comics titles will also be polybagged for the same reason.

The program begins with Ultimate Spider-Man #6 in January, followed by Ultimate X-Men #7 and Ultimates #7 in February, and will continue with subsequent Issues.

UltimateComicsUltimates_7_CoverMarvel has been criticized lately for lowering the page count on some of their $3.99 titles as DC has tried to maintain a lower price point by offering many of their books at $2.99. Some Marvel fans feel that they’re not getting $3.99 worth of value for their money. DC has also offered digital downloads in a few of their titles, but for a dollar more.

Victor Von Doom Miniseries Cancelled By Marvel

Victor Von Doom

Marvel Comics has cancelled the five issue miniseries by Nick Spencer and Becky Cloonan just a few weeks before the first issue was due to hit the stands. The series, written by Spencer and drawn by Cloonan, was supposed to be a tale of a teenaged Doom as he journeyed into Hell to save the spirit of his mother.

Nick Spencer tweeted this morning after the news broke of the series’ cancellation, “I see word is out about Victor Von Doom. Trust me, no one is more bummed about this than I am. Really proud of the scripts and hope to get to work with @beckycloonan sooner rather than later.”

The cancellation follows a round of layoffs announced by Marvel just last month that included the series’ editor Alejandro Arbona. Other announced cancellations included Alpha Flight (ends at #8), All-Winners Squad (ended at #5), and Iron Man 2.0 (ends at #12; also written by Spencer).
