Pigs by Nate Cosby, Ben McCool, and Breno Tamura is one of the best mystery/espionage books to come out in a long time. If you haven’t picked up the first two issues, check out your local comic shop – they may still have some copies on hand.

Following the previous cancellations of several titles, most notably Victor Von Doom by Nick Spencer and Becky Cloonan, comes another announcement. The Destroyers, a miniseries due in February 2012 by writer Fred Van Lente and artist Kyle Hotz, was cancelled before it was solicited by Marvel – even though the first two issues were completely penciled.
Originally announced by Marvel at Fan Expo Canada 2011, The Destroyers was to be a five issue miniseries.
Just in time for the 2011 Holiday season, Converse releases their DC Comics x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Hi Collection. The screen-printed canvas sneakers will include a free DC Comics poster with purchase while supplies last.
Like the previously released “Heroes Pack,” the new All Stars Collection will include DC characters Batman, Superman, The Flash, and The Joker.
Marvel Comics has cancelled the five issue miniseries by Nick Spencer and Becky Cloonan just a few weeks before the first issue was due to hit the stands. The series, written by Spencer and drawn by Cloonan, was supposed to be a tale of a teenaged Doom as he journeyed into Hell to save the spirit of his mother.
Nick Spencer tweeted this morning after the news broke of the series’ cancellation, “I see word is out about Victor Von Doom. Trust me, no one is more bummed about this than I am. Really proud of the scripts and hope to get to work with @beckycloonan sooner rather than later.”
The cancellation follows a round of layoffs announced by Marvel just last month that included the series’ editor Alejandro Arbona. Other announced cancellations included Alpha Flight (ends at #8), All-Winners Squad (ended at #5), and Iron Man 2.0 (ends at #12; also written by Spencer).
Stan Lee is teaming up with online community MASScanvas, encouraging fans to design and illustrate “HERO-themed” T-shirts. A portion of the sale of winning T-shirts will benefit the John Wayne Cancer Institute.
Starting Thursday, November 4, 2011, fans can submit designs for the ‘WORLD OF HEROES’ challenge until November 20, 2011 at masscanvas.com. ALL entries will be featured on masscanvas.com, the only requirement being they reflect the theme of “WORLD OF HEROES.” Entrants and fans can comment on designs throughout the challenge and VOTE for the top 20 designs. On December 8, 2011, Stan Lee will choose 5 winning tees (each receiving a $1,000 cash prize), from the top 20, that he feels best represent the theme. The 5 winning tees will be custom printed in limited quantity, individually hand-numbered, and sold in support of the charitable cause.
