THE SHADOW Returns in April 2012!

The Shadow returns in 2012! The property which is owned by Conde Nast, is being published by Dynamite Entertainment this time around. Chosen to helm the return of the popular title is Garth Ennis, and his partner in crime Aaron Campbell will be illustrating the series.

The Shadow #1 will feature alternate covers by fan favorite artists Alex Ross, Howard Chaykin, Jae Lee, and John Cassaday. The first issue is due to be released in April 2012.

Walt Simonson Takes on the Avengers!

Walt Simonson returns to Marvel Comics to draw an Avengers six issue story arc written by Brian Michael Bendis starting with Avengers #25. The story will take place during the heat of the Avengers vs X-Men battle.

Simonson had previously worked on the Avengers in the late 1980’s as a writer, but this time he’s taking on the artist’s chores. Daniel Acuna will provide the cover for Avengers #25.

DC Applies for New Logo Trademark

New DC Entertainment Logos?

Warner Bros. has applied for a trademark on a new logo for both DC Comics and DC Entertainment. The logo, which looks like a pulled or flipped back letter D sticker exposing the letter C, may be replacing the current swoosh logo that was introduced in 2005. The swoosh logo had replaced the popular DC bullet design that was introduced back in 1976.

The trademark on the new “sticker” logo was applied for in black and white. According to the trademark, “Color is not claimed as a feature of the mark. The mark consists of the letter “D” flipping back to reveal the letter “C” and DC ENTERTAINMENT.”

Wolverine goes back to Japan to fight a deadly foe in Wolverine #300 from Marvel Comics. This extra-sized issue weighs in at 56 pages, features several variant covers, and introduces a new Silver Samurai.

Wolverine #300 by Jason Aaron and Adam Kubert is available in stores on Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 at $4.99 for 56 full color pages.

Batman: Earth One by Geoff Johns & Gary Frank Finally Ships in 2012

Originally announced by DC Comics back in late 2009, Batman: Earth One by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank is finally being released in 2012! Earth One is an original hardcover graphic novel that retells the Batman legend in a contemporary setting.

Like Superman: Earth One by J. Michael Straczynski and Shane Davis that was released in 2010, changes some details of the origin and arrival of the Caped Crusader. Some of the changes being that Alfred doesn’t seem to be the frail butler of Bruce Wayne and Batman never left Gotham City in order to train his skills.

DC has also released a few unlettered pages from Batman: Earth One drawn by Gary Frank, which we have on display below.
