SPAWN #220 was a banner issue for the long-running title, as it celebrated its twentieth year of publication with creator Todd McFarlane‘s name appearing once more in the writing and covers credits. And the series shows no signs of slowing as SPAWN #221 sold out at the distributor level the same week as it was released and the story takes a new turn and a new tone.

Landmark issue was best-selling first printing in 15 years
After the recent announcement that The Walking Dead #100 had set recent sales records, you could see this one coming a mile away. Let’s see how many printings it gets before all is said and done.

Coming off a whirlwind release day the week of Comic-Con International and supported by special events at comic book stores around the country, THE WALKING DEAD #100 by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard will receive a second printing after selling out of its record-setting first printing. At 383,612 copies, the sales of THE WALKING DEAD #100 were the best initial orders for a single issue of a comic book since 1997.
Thomas Jane played the title character in the mostly forgettable 2004 film The Punisher. Although the film was bad, I found his portrayal of the vigilante, whose family was killed by the mob, to be significantly better than those Punishers who came before (Dolph Lundgren – 1989) or after (Ray Stevenson – 2008) him.
Jane seems to have enjoyed the experience of playing The Punisher. At Comic-Con International in San Diego this past weekend, Jane debuted a 10 minute short film simply entitled “Dirty Laundry.” The short was directed by Phil Joanou (Gridiron Gang) and featured an appearance by Ron Perlman. The lead character was never named, but it was clearly Frank Castle – The Punisher.

Robert Kirkman‘s Eisner Award-winning The Walking Dead comic series for Image Comics/Skybound reached its milestone 100th issue and instantly sold out of its 383,612 initial orders on July 11th, the same day it was released, effectively becoming the best-selling comic book in initial orders for any publisher since 1997, when Image Comics/Top Cow’s The Darkness #11 was released.
This weekend the official Man of Steel Facebook page released the first teaser poster for the new Superman reboot by Zack Snyder.
