DC Entertainment is running an open talent search for up and coming artists and all you have to do is draw a page with Harley Quinn committing suicide. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?!
Well, you can read about it here!
It’s bad enough that Harley Quinn is the sexy, comedic poster child for abused women, but now you can win a contest by making her death “cool” enough for DC’s editors.
DC Entertainment’s judgment with this contest is very suspect. Whose idea was it and how did it make it all the way to the final stages of a contest. Really, DC? Suicide as a contest subject? This really has taken me aback.
According to DC Comics, the Lights Out crossover event that begins in October and spans the entire Green Lantern Universe, will change it forever!… Or at least what forever means in comic book terms these days.
Here is the press release from DC and several preview pages from Green Lantern #24 with art by Billy Tan.
Press Release
This October, “Lights Out” will span across all of the GREEN LANTERN family titles. And earlier this week, Relic’s Villains Month one-shot hit stores and set the stage for this epic crossover event that will change the Green Lantern universe forever.
“There are seven different colors of the emotional spectrum, each of them represented by their own corps. Green Lanterns wear rings powered by will, Red Lanterns rage, Yellow Lanterns fear, and so on,” GREEN LANTERN writer Robert Venditti explained. “For reasons none of the Lanterns are sure of, the rings have been malfunctioning lately. Enter Relic, a remnant of the universe before ours, who thinks he knows what’s wrong with the rings and has a solution. Unfortunately, ridding the universe of every last Lantern is part of that solution.”

Press Release
Following the events of this summer’s crossover “Trinity War,” a dark shadow will be cast across the DC Universe.
This September, all of the DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 titles will be replaced by Villains books. What happens when the heroes of the DC Universe fall and there’s nobody left to stop the villains from taking over? Find out this fall during Villain’s Month, which will spotlight 52 of the DC Universe’s biggest rogues in their own one-shots.
“September has always been a big month for us and we look for an opportunity every year in September to do something big that really redefines the line and invites anyone who hasn’t been following comics to step right in,” DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Jim Lee explained. “We launched the New 52 with all-new continuity and new costumes, Zero Month was all about origins of our heroes, and now the villains are taking over. One of the strengths of the DC Universe has been the strength of the rogues gallery. Often times they’re as famous – if not more infamous – than our heroes.”
