Hot on the heels of their initial announcement last week, today Bad Idea announced their first title – ENIAC #1.
ENIAC #1 by writer Matt Kindt, artist Doug Braithwaite, colorist Diego Rodriguez, and cover artist Lewis LaRosa arrives on May 6th, 2020 in 20 select comic shop retailers.
The issue will be an -oversized, 40-page prestige-format comic featuring deluxe matte-laminate cardstock covers and heavy-duty interior paper stock.

BAD IDEA – An Unruly New Comic Book Publisher Coming Soon to a Store Near You

There’s a new comic book publisher in town and the people behind it are looking to stir things up in the industry.
They are well known in the comics world as the force behind the resurrection of the Valiant Entertainment publishing division almost a decade ago: Dinesh Shamdasani, Warren Simons, Hunter Gorinson, Joshua Johns, and Atom! Freeman. They have a few ideas in mind this time around, and they are certainly unique.
Bad Idea comics will:
- not have more than one or two single issues per month
- “<not> do anything unless it’s special”
- be in a pristinely designed, prestige-format package that will be oversized with page counts far in excess of the standard 22 pages
- feature no variants
- not be offered digitally
- not be collected into trade paperbacks, hardcovers, or other bookshelf formats.
- only be sold a comic shop
In addition to all that, Bad Idea’s new releases won’t be available everywhere. To get things going, BAD IDEA will be self-distributing its titles to a carefully selected roster of just 20 participating comic book retailers with more admitted on a rolling basis for a total of roughly 50 within the first year. This includes strict enforcement in each store of only one comic per customer! This will make getting Bad Idea comics a little tough for many people.
Bad Idea does have a long roster of comics heavyweights in their line-up including Matt Kindt, Doug Braithwaite, Mae Catt, Joshua Dysart, Tomas Giorello, Lewis LaRosa, Adam Pollina, Robert Venditti, Marguerite Bennett, Eric Heisserer, Jody Houser, Jeff Lemire, Peter Milligan, Zeb Wells, and more.
