The first official trailer for the Warner Bros. Animation ‘Batman: Year One’ original animated feature hit the web today. The story is an extremely faithful recreation of the classic Batman: Year One by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli which originally ran as a four issue story arc in Batman #404-#407 and was later collected as a trade paperback.
Not only is the story about the origins of Batman, but also about the early careers of James Gordon, his partner Sarah Essen, and Selena Kyle aka Catwoman. Executive producer Bruce Timm and directors Lauren Montgomery & Sam Liu try to recreate the original source material as closely as possible almost word for word and panel to frame translation. Even though the animation doesn’t resemble Mazzucchelli’s artwork at all, the trailer is dead on with the story.
"Batman: Year One," starring Benjamin McKenzie as Bruce Wayne, Bryan Cranston as Jim Gordon, Eliza Dushku as Catwoman and Katee Sackhoff as Sarah Essen, will be available October 18, 2011 from Warner Home Video on Blu-ray, DVD, and other formats. It will premiere at this year’s Comic-Con on Friday July 22, 2011.
The home video release will come with a 15-minute supplemental feature starring Catwoman.
